Redefining Employee Computing
Lowering cost and unleashing new forms of collaborative productivity
Corporations today face a growing crisis. In the midst of an abundant stream of information technology options, employees from the executive to the front line service representative find the corporate "end user" experience in need of an overhaul. See if these sound familiar. Executives wonder why, after millions invested in ERP and countless databases, it requires yet another massive IT project to get timely data on their Blackberrys. The newly recruited Gen Y employees find less functionality on the company-issued PC than they have cobbled on their home computer with free Web 2.0 software. Middle managers ponder the impact of increasing charges for "computing access" on their monthly budgets while working with an offshore, outsourced help desk. And explain to me again why I can't use an Apple iPhone or instant messaging on my company-issued cell phone?
There must be a better way. We believe there is and we have launched a research project to find out. Join Jim Cash, Nick Vitalari, Bob Morison, Keri Pearlson, nGenera's other experienced advisors and practitioners in IT management, and a select group of major corporations as we determine the opportunities and methods for transforming how employees work with information technology resources and how businesses encourage and manage that use.
