Enterprise 2.0
A "perfect storm" of change is brewing in global business, driven by four broad forces:
- Web 2.0 (pervasive, broadband, mobile computing);
- the coming of age of the Net Generation (grown up digital);
- a social revolution in which mass collaboration is superceding information as the focus of the web;
- an economic revolution in which "the corporation" as we know it is being reinvented - again.
As a result of these forces, new business models are emerging. The world's best organizations are developing business models that take advantage of peer production (e.g., Linux or Wikipedia) and ideagoras (seeking the most qualified minds from outside the company as much as from within).
These business models create a strong opportunity for strategy and IT leaders to pull their organizations up to a new level of competitive advantage.
Our Enterprise 2.0 research program is the definitive investigation of this shift, and of the development and execution of new IT-enabled business strategies. At nGenera, we identify "lighthouse cases" - companies or organizations that lead the way - and we delve into their business models, early successes, and lessons for followers. This gives our clients unparalleled insight into what's coming over the horizon, and also into what works and doesn't work as technologies and behaviors change around us.
