Did you notice an automatic update of your computer yesterday? Turns out a flaw in the basic design of the Internet could allow a DNS cache poisoning attack to point a server to the wrong host, redirecting e-mail, web traffic and other data to malicious parties.
The US Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT), in a massive multi-vendor collaboration effort (including Microsoft, Sun and Cisco), released the patch simultaneously across all computer software platforms. It is claimed it cannot be reversed engineered.
Like any patch, it is not without its problems, however.
