Barriers to Web 2.0 Enterprise Adoption

A recent study by CDW shows IT decision makers across government and corporate sectors worry about misuse and security: 31 percent worry that Web 2.0 will be used for personal use over work, 28 percent are concerned about information security, and 27 percent worry about employees wasting time.
Security will continue to be addressed as new threats arise and are overcome, but personal use and wasting time are not technological issues but rather business culture issues. Is Web 2.0-based social networking at work any different than standing around the water cooler or coffee machine? In an era of global enterprise, is it not critical to extend the social interactions of the physical office to the dispersed team?
