Hello Vaughan.
I think you’ve mapped Kenneth Crow’s framework very well into the behavior one typically encounters in an IT organization. Good work.
Your post on this subject is timely for me, because it causes me to reflect on an idea for which I’ve been collaborating (there’s that word again) with a few other like-minded individuals. In particular, the application of Web 2.0 technologies to IT/Business Processes.
Your point #5 is appropriate here. You mentioned SDLC framework. That is a candidate for what I’ve been working on, as are certain ITIL processes in the Service Management context. The idea is to facilitate the process as a whole by facilitating more immediacy in the components of the process that touch stakeholders.
So, the thought you bring to mind for me is whether there’s a risk of a circular loop in applying collaboration to business processes, which because of the environment in which they operate, may be inherently challenged by collaboration to begin with.
I’ll need a few moments to digest that.
Thanks for the food for thought.
Bob
