Most people know what Wikipedia is, and many now use the online service instead of a traditional dictionary. But how many have recognized the opportunities that such technology presents to the securities industry?
…”Today’s graduates are using those tools already and are going to expect an environment like that,” says Thomas Steinthal, managing director, financial services, BSG Alliance corp., a consulting and software development company that has recently moved into the financial services space. In addition, firms that adopt such technology will be more attractive to recruits, he says.
“Firms will need to leverage what kids are using to attract them,” Steinthal says, citing Second Life as an example (See “Get a Second Life?” SCREEN, May 2007). “Firms that don’t adapt will have trouble attracting talent in the near future.”
