Conv Problem with uploading an avatar

Apparently I can upload this picture of mine, but I can't upload this same picture as an avatar ( nor any other picture I've tried putting in - using both explorer and firefox ).

Is this a sign of disintegration of this site or have I been doing something the wrong way ?

    I'm assuming you were uploading from your Profile page.

    Given that, there are restrictions on size and type of uploaded avatar file; however, you should receive a notice when violating those restrictions.

    Please contact Customer Support (via the "Support" link at page bottom) and they'll walk you through your upload.
