The e.laborate v6.3 release touched a number of areas from new features through infrastructure improvements.  Here's the rundown:

  • New!!!  User Search using the existing unified search box.  Keyword searches will now also scan the public portions of member profiles and return their avatar or display name along with a profile link.  For example, search for bri as shown here:

Returns 10 users and a great many conversations:

  • Improved. WYSIWYG Editing now more closely resembles the fonts and sizes of the final product.  Note:  in some cases you may need to clean your browser cache in order to enable this feature.
    • For IE7, from the Tools menu click on Delete Browsing History..., then click the Delete files... button.
    • For Firefox, from the Tools menu click on Clear Private Data..., then click the Clear Private Data Now button.
  • Improved.  User Service messages and routing have been tweaked for a clearer and simpler user experience.  In particular, those new members registering for purposes of joining and interest group will have a simpler flow.  The join our group e-mail remains unchanged:

However, after clicking the signup link for step #1, the signup page now includes a group welcome:

Upon completion of the signup form, the new member will be routed directly to their interest group where they can complete the group membership process.

  • Improved.  Tag Search for Administrators speeds the process of finding and policing tags.  Just put your criteria in the search box:

  • Infrastructure Updates were made as we upgraded to the latest versions of Ruby On Rails (v2.0.2) and Mongrel (v1.1.3).
