On the more serious side, I do like the idea of chopping up maturity in finer dimensions. One point is that the various categories pertain not only to what the IT organization does, but also to which other parts of the business side it interacts with. It should be possible to map out stages of maturity based on, say, the relationship with the CFO (from cost measurement through to benefit collection, for instance).
