Dec 17, 2007
Apps Team announces the availability of the second BSG Platform v1.0 release candidate. This RC adds support for shared profiles, SAML single sign-on support, provisioning, and the new Sample Training and Learning Application (aka the "Sample App").
We'll be doing additional, detailed writeups this week, but for those who don't want to wait you can visit the Sample App. From there you can see working examples and navigate to the online doc for every service. When logging in, feel free to use your bsgalliance.com account. They are shared, after all!
For details on the tasks accomplished visit the Attack Plan and, as always, drop by the Apps Team group.
We'll be dropping another release candidate at week's end with the final GA at month's end (including the upgraded bsgalliance.com). Also, you members of the Architecture Review Team, I'll be posting some discussion specifically asking for review and feedback.

The source code for the sample app is available in the repository and you already have access. Please give us your thoughts about the quality and usefulness of the sample app source code once you've had some time to look through it.
Regards,
Marc

a reply to BSG Platform v1.0 RC 2 Released
by Cyd Berry on Dec 19, 2007 - 10:51 AM read 58 timesScott,
Looks like you guys are making very good progress. I am a bit confused by what I should be looking at in terms of a sample app. I see the doc page, but then am I supposed to run the additional links you have for single sign on, etc?
I was unable to use my existing id for the sign in. It said it did not recognize cberry@bsgalliance.com. Do I need to also create an e.Laborate account?
Thanks -

Which basically means, we run a filter on all personal data to prevent sending someone unwanted e-mails during testing. If you'd like to login, use xcberry@bsgalliance.com and your normal password.
As to your other question, the Sample App is usually used by engineers wanting to learn the platform by working through example code and doc. Additionally, it's a comprehensive, automated functional test suite for the platform.
For non-engineers, the Sample App documents the evolution of the BSG Platform and links to all the detailed APIs and usage information with the intention of answering the question "what can I accomplish with the platform on my project?"
