BSG Alliance's Web & Enterprise 2.0 Foundations class - REVIEW
by Steve G on Dec 11, 2007 - 01:33 PM read 778 times |
On Friday, December 7, a group from BSG Alliance were the inaugural class for our new Web & Enterprise 2.0 Foundations course, licensed from Hinchcliffe & Co.
Instructors who led the course and are certified to teach it (including yours truly) were Dean Landis (NY office), Kelvin King (Houston office), and Elizabeth Hurley (West coast). You can read more of Elizabeth's impressions of the class on the Ning: http://peoplefirst.ning.com/profile/ElizabethHurley
The agenda for the 1-day course is packed. The morning is an overview of the 7 principles of Web 2.0 and is a condensed version of a full-day class that Hinchcliffe teaches on the subject.
The afternoon is a survey of Enterprise 2.0, going from 1) definition, to 2) case studies, to 3) a survey of tools and products, to 4) a discussion of objections and strategies, and 5) ending with an overview of the Next Generation Enterprise.
The participants - of varying backgrounds and roles in the company - gave it good feedback from a learning perspective, but more importantly, provided a lot of great input for how it could be revised and improved. Barbara McGill is project managing the customization of the course, which we expect to be revised and ready by year end.
In addition to using the course as our foundation for web & enterprise 2.0 concepts, terminology and examples, we also are actively promoting it to customers in 2 forms:
- a series of multi-company, public classes, offered in cities around the U.S. A full list of dates and locations can be found on the BSG Concours website: http://www.bsgconcours.com/eventAgenda.aspx?id=1328
- private, single-company offerings sold to companies that want to offer it to a group or cohort from across their organization to educate a number of people at once as a way to launch an Enterprise 2.0 initiative.
Junko Matthews is leading the customer promotion for the public classes and private company sales, but if you have any leads or suggestions, please contact her: junkomatthews@bsgalliance.com

Getting a copy of the Web & Enterprise 2.0 class materials
a reply to BSG Alliance's Web & Enterprise 2.0 Foundations class - REVIEW
by Steve G on Dec 11, 2007 - 02:00 PM read 350 timesNOTE: Several entrepreneurial BSGers have already inquired about getting a copy of the course materials to see a) if they might be applicable to a client situation and b) if they could be modified and incorporated into an existing presentation / briefing deck / etc.
I am happy to make the course materials available to anyone on an as needed basis. HOWEVER, we have very specific restrictions that we are contractually obligated to follow according to the licensing agreement that we have with Hinchcliffe & Co. For example:
- we must cooridnate any significant revisions of the material with them, so that they can maintain the integrity of the overall offering
- we must report every instance of formally offering the class to other companies - private or public - as a part of the royalty arrangement we have for the course.
There are other restrictions as well. That said, we want to sell it at every opportunity that we can. And, I encourage you to request a copy of the master course if you think you have a prospect that i tmay apply to. Just recognize that we must tightly control the distribution inside of the company.
Thanks!
