If you are like me - relatively new to the emerging web 2.0 universe, you might be afraid to admit that you only have a vague notion (no idea???) what all this “twitter” stuff is about. I came across this What’s Twitter post yesterday, and found it helpful. It appears on the intriguingly titled Fractals of Change (I’ve been intrigued for many years about chaos theory, the science behind self-organization, and related topics ever since I read Margaret Wheatley’s Leadership and the New Sciencein 1992.) As I try to do when I come across a possibly interesting blog, I’ve added it to my Google Reader and will monitor the site for a week or so and perhaps add it to my blogroll.
Anyway, for now, those who already “twitter” please ignore this post. For the rest of you, you might be enlightened, and perhaps even persuaded to “tweet” yourselves. (Frankly, I’m not yet persuaded this is for me, but… who knows!)

Hi Vaughan. I didn’t “get” Twitter at first either. Seems ridiculous, actually: “What are you doing?” But, it’s like getting to understand the culture and language in a foreign country, you have to do the immersion thing. Start Twittering. Add a bunch of Twitter addicts as friends and see what happens. If you’re like most of us, you’ll “get it” too. It’s a way to have instantaneous access to information, links, tidbits, personal information– bitstreams of slice of life and intelligence all day long from people who you know or who you find interesting. I have found it extremely valuable to my professional experience.
G’head. Try it. You’re starting to trust me on this stuff, n’est-ce pas?

OK - given that I am indeed trusting you on all this stiff (you’ve steered me well so far) I’ve registered on Twitter. I’ve not yet added the addicts - figured I’d ease into this thing!
