Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but at the IT LDP, one of the participants from an insurance company mentioned an out of the box use of Innocentive. They took a problem that took them 4-5 days to solve. They then posted it on Innocentive to see who could solve it and in what timeframe. They found someone who solved the problem in a few hours! After a couple of tries, they now had identified proven talent outside the organization that they could turn to as a flexible workforce.
