Copy of Need Examples of "Hacking" the Corporation

Hi Everyone --
I need your help. I'm looking for examples of companies that are doing things in totally out-of-the-box ways -- companies who have "hacked" their key processes. An example would be Zappos, which pays people $1000 if they agree to quit -- the company only wants employees who really, really want to work at Zappos. They've changed the idea of a hiring bonus into a quitting bonus.
Other ideas of radical re-thinks?
Or, if you don't have an example of a company that has done it, I'd value your ideas about things that NEED hacking. Please post the things you've pondered: do we need titles? do we need the distinction between weekdays and weekends? do we need to use academic degrees to select new hires? What else?
Please send these questions to your creative, provocative friends outside the company, and let me know what they think, too!
Thanks much! Can't wait to share the results with you all.
Best,
Tammy

They took a problem that took them 4-5 days to solve. They then posted it on Innocentive to see who could solve it and in what timeframe. They found someone who solved the problem in a few hours! After a couple of tries, they now had identified proven talent outside the organization that they could turn to as a flexible workforce.
