Creating organizational transformations
by Tim Bevins on Sep 02, 2008 - 11:49 AM read 189 times

From McKinsey:

  • The McKinsey Quarterly asked executives from around the world about a recent major change effort at their company, including the goal-such as completing a merger, dealing with a crisis, or reducing costs; how their organizations designed and managed the change; how they engaged employees in it; and how involved senior leaders were.
  • Only a third of transformations of any kind were deemed very or extremely successful.
  • At companies that did change successfully, transformations were managed differently. Among the differences: they were likelier to have set clear, high goals; to use large number of tactics to engage employees; and to communicate about the change positively, not just by pointing out problems.
